Libre Foods, a Spanish biotech company, has received a EUR 335,000 (~USD 367,500) public research and development grant from Neotec to develop low-cost mycelium ingredients for alternative meat production.
The grant will be used to establish an advanced screening platform that leverages rapid imaging robotics and machine learning to expedite product development and optimize fungi strains. The company claims this will increase its research and development efficiency by more than 800x.
In addition, the platform will be used to screen fungi with novel functions and applications to increase the number of mycelium-based alternatives in the market.
