Deep Sky, a Canadian carbon removal project developer, and ReCarbn, a Netherlands-based direct air capture (DAC) firm, have partnered to implement carbon removal technology in Canada. Deep Sky expects to support Recarbn for CDR (carbon dioxide removal) project development.
The partnership aims to install a DAC unit built by ReCarbn at Deep Sky's Alpha Lab test facility in Quebec by 2024, with a capacity to remove 50 tonnes of CO2 annually. The unit will utilize ReCarbn’s circulating solid sorbent mechanism, which aims to increase the efficiency and reduce energy consumption of carbon removal.
The partnership will track the performance of the DAC unit in terms of CO2 removal and energy consumption. The partners will collaborate to ascertain the feasibility of the technology for commercial use.
