QuantumScape, an NYSE-listed solid-state lithium-metal EV battery developer, has passed battery tests that were carried out by PowerCo, the battery company of the Volkswagen Group.
The solid-state battery made by QuantumScape was able to complete 1,000 charging cycles and retain 95% capacity, which exceeds industry-standard targets of 700 charging cycles and a maximum capacity loss of 20%.
Therefore, an electric car with a WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) range of 500–600 km could drive more than 500,000 km without a noticeable loss of range.
In addition, QuantumScape’s battery proved test criteria, such as fast-charging capability, safety and self-discharge.
