Xreal announced its latest AR glass offering ahead of CES 2024, the Air 2 Ultra, which will retail at USD 699. Shipping for the glasses is slated to occur in March 2024.
The Air 2 Ultra glasses, described as a “spatial computing” device, offer six degrees of freedom (6DOF) tracking, dual 3D cameras, a 52-degree field of view, 500 nits of brightness, a 1080 p screen for each eye, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The added dual 3D cameras can map the environment and allow hand tracking, creating a blend of physical and digital experiences. Further, the Nebula AR environment launcher and SDK help improve gesture recognition and hand tracking.
Analyst QuickTake: The launch follows that of the XREAL Air 2 and Air 2 Pro in October 2023 , which retails at USD 399 and USD 449, respectively. The Ultra most notably brings about 6-DOF tracking, compared to the predecessor's 3-DOF tracking. This allows greater user immersion (e.g., viewing an AR object from different angles), as opposed to a static image pinned in 3D space.
