8 Rivers, a carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology developer, has announced the development of the Cormorant Clean Energy Project, an ultra-low-carbon ammonia production facility in Port Arthur, Texas. The facility will utilize the company's proprietary 8RH2 hydrogen process.
The Cormorant project will be the first commercial application of the company’s technology. 8 Rivers aims to have an annual production capacity of 880,000 tons of ammonia while capturing 1.4 million tons of CO2.
Through the facility, the company expects to generate ammonia, for sectors including transportation, industrial processes, and agriculture.
