Q-CTRL and USGS collaborate to explore quantum technology applications in geological sciences

Partnerships

  • Quantum software company Q-CTRL has formed a partnership with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to explore the applications of quantum computing and sensing technologies in geological sciences. The partnership is formalized through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA).

  • This collaboration will integrate quantum technologies into geophysics and environmental science to manage underground water resources, surveillance of polar ice sheets, prepare for natural hazards, and discover energy and mineral resources. The partnership will utilize quantum technology for early hazard detection, improved monitoring of water resources, and reduced cost of resource production.
