Peyk, the developer of the autonomous delivery droid PeykBot, has partnered with Cranfield University, UK, to initiate an on-campus last-mile delivery service. The robots will deliver mail, food, and other goods, such as library books, around campus. This partnership is reportedly the UK's first on-campus robotic delivery service.
Peyk's robots will undergo trials at the university beginning in spring (March–May).
The droids will be available for grocery stores, cafés, and restaurants to offer student deliveries and peer-to-peer deliveries.
Analyst QuickTake: Peyk previously deployed its droids in Milton Keynes, UK, and today’s partnership will help the company strengthen its presence in the UK market. Even though university deployments have not been popular in the UK, tapping universities has been a common strategy among droid developers in the US. Peer startups Starship Technologies, Kiwibot, and Cartken are among the list of companies to have deployed their droids at universities in the US.
