Kodiak Robotics, a manufacturer of autonomous trucks, has partnered with the logistics and transportation firm Ryder Systems to establish a truckport in Houston, based at an existing Ryder fleet maintenance unit, to serve routes between Houston, Dallas, and Oklahoma City.
Kodiak plans to utilize the truckport to launch and land autonomous trucks and transfer freight within the routes. It also expects the truckport to facilitate its soon-to-be-launched driverless truck operations on its Dallas-Houston route. Kodiak expects the facility to serve as a base for testing its truckport operational model and plans to eventually leverage Ryder’s service network to extend its truckport operations and provide on-site technician and maintenance services.
