Superbrewed Food granted US patent for postbiotic protein ingredient

Product updates

  • Superbrewed Food (formerly White Dog Labs), a nutrition and health company focused on developing alternative protein ingredients, has gained patent approval for its postbiotic protein ingredient, Superbrewed Protein, granting the company broad rights for the creation, usage, and commercialization of bacterial biomass ingredients for the next 18 years.

  • The patented postbiotic protein ingredient is produced via anaerobic fermentation and falls under bacterial biomass proteins. According to the company, the product is free from animal components, allergens, and GMOs and offers better functional benefits than other plant or microbial proteins.

  • Analyst QuickTake: In 2022, Superbrewed Protein received self-affirmed GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status from the FDA, marking it as safe for consumption. Later during the year, the company partnered with global cheese industry giant Bel Group to develop a new range of cheeses using the postbiotic protein.
