Cambridge-based quantum networking organization Nu Quantum has entered a partnership with global networking infrastructure provider Cisco to establish the world's inaugural Quantum Networking Unit (QNU). The project named LYRA, which is funded by the UK Government, has a contract value of GBP 2.3 million (USD 2.9 million).
The project will develop a modular, scalable quantum data center prototype in a span of 18 months that can be adjusted for different quantum computer modalities and wavelengths, thus enabling more effortless in-field updates and scalability to accommodate larger quantum-compute clusters.
