AddUp has launched a new collaborative initiative named the 2024 Additive Manufacturing for Injection Molding project, which aims to develop solutions that leverage additive manufacturing in injection molding applications.
The project will include contributions from 17 companies, including Swiss Steel Group (SSG), Siemens AG, Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT), and Herding, and will take place over a year. The companies will identify a problem area each month, create samples and benchmark parts, and develop production molds. After which, the solutions will be formed, and relevant data will be published.
The focus areas for the project include tool steel development, productivity, quality, time savings, functions, sustainability, and work safety and powder handling.
