Cactos, a Finnish startup developing smart energy storage systems from recycled EV batteries, has secured EUR 26 million (~USD 28.5 million) in an equity investment round led by OP Finland Infrastructure LP and the Finnish Climate Fund. This brings the company’s total funding to EUR 28.5 million (~USD 31.3 million).
The investment was made into the Cactos Fleet Finland Limited Partnership, a joint venture between Cactos Oy and Fleet Finland Oy.
The new capital will be utilized to expand the company's smart energy storage unit portfolio on a large scale. Cactos owns ~50 battery energy storage units as of December 2023, and the company aims to increase to over 1,000 units.
The company also announced that it intends to raise a total capital of EUR 70 million (~USD 76 million) equally from equity and debt. The investment will be activated within two and a half years, while the operational period is anticipated to last around 10 years.
