Belgian food ingredient company Paleo has opened a new pilot-scale facility in Leven, Belgium, to expedite the production of its animal-free heme ingredient.
The company aims to bring its heme ingredient closer to commercialization in 2024 by using the new facilities. Paleo has already developed six non-GMO heme variations, including chicken, beef, pork, lamb, tuna, and mammoth proteins.
Analyst QuickTake: This facility was backed by Paleo’s EUR 12 million (~USD 12.8 million) Series A funding round, earmarked for scaling production, amongst other objectives. The increased production rates resulting from the new facility will likely aid the company with increased output and global expansion plans.
