Notion, a company known for its productivity suite, has acquired Skiff, a platform providing end-to-end encrypted file storage, documents, calendar events, and email.
Skiff is a platform started by Andrew Milich and Jason Ginsberg in 2020, offering secure document collaboration alternatives to Google Docs. It has also expanded to provide additional productivity solutions like a calendar and email service. The company had previously raised USD 14.2 million in funding through two investment rounds before its acquisition by Notion.
Post-acquisition, Skiff plans to discontinue its product offerings six months from now. Notion will not be converting Skiff accounts, allowing users to smoothly transition their data to other services. This merger is expected to bolster Notion's privacy-focused suite, considering Skiff's ability to provide encrypted solutions.
