<p>Northvolt, a European producer of EV battery and energy storage, has obtained a USD 5 billion loan to increase the capacity of its Northvolt Ett battery factory located in northern Sweden. The loan is reportedly the most substantial green loan secured in Europe thus far. The loan was given by 23 commercial banks, the European Investment Bank, and the Nordic Investment Bank, and also includes the refinancing of the USD 1.6 billion debt package gathered in 2020.</p>
<p>The funds from this financing will assist in the expansion of Northvolt Ett's cathode production and cell manufacturing, alongside the enlargement of the neighbouring recycling plant, Revolt Ett. The latter is close to finishing the commissioning process and starting to work with its first materials.</p>

This grant is part of the Biden-Harris Administration's clean energy manufacturing initiative which is worth USD 428 million. This new funding elevates Moment Energy's total investment to USD 43 million.</p>
<p>These funds will be allocated towards the construction of a gigafactory in Taylor, Texas. This construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025. This facility is intended for the production of battery energy storage systems, which will be assembled from previously used EV batteries. Once the facility is completely operative, it's predicted to yield an annual production capacity of one GWh.</p>
