Phase Inc., a developer of 3D-printing medical devices for microfluidic organ-on-a-chip devices, has received a grant of USD 1.8 million from the National Institutes of Health for a 3D printing project with Georgia Tech, Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital, and Virginia Tech.
The funds will be used to build on the work of its existing projects and to create a blood-brain barrier device designed to overcome the limitations of current brain models.
Phase specializes in 3D-printed microfluidics, offering a proprietary platform that allows polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and other biocompatible materials to be printed at high resolution and scale. This supports customizable microfluidic device production, integrating valves, sensors, and electrodes during printing.
