Samsara Eco, an Australian EnviroTech company creating solutions to recycle plastic waste, has partnered with athletic apparel brand Lululemon to unveil a version of Lululemon's Swiftly Tech long-sleeve top made from recycled nylon 6,6.
The enzymatic recycling technology behind collaboration represents a global-first, as nylon 6,6 has traditionally been challenging to recycle owing to its heavy-duty material characteristics. Samsara’s technology also operates at low temperatures, representing energy savings compared to alternative chemical recycling methods, which are energy-intensive.
Analyst QuickTake: Samsara’s technology represents a successful result for its partnership with Lululemon launched in May 2023. Nylon 6,6 is widely used in industries ranging from automotive to electronics, and the company’s recycling technology has the potential to gain traction within these industries if its use cases are expanded—an outcome the partners have alluded they may explore in the future.
