Formlabs launches beta version of 'Texture Engine' solution for 3D printing

Product updates

  • Formlabs, a provider of 3D printing technology, has released the beta version of “Formlabs Texture Engine," a tool that enables users to apply textures and patterns to 3D models in preparation for printing.

  • Users can import their CAD models into the engine and apply a displacement map to the model to define the scale, amplitude, sharpness, offset, and maximum triangles of the texture. Finally, the textured part can be imported back into the CAD tool for a final review or immediate 3D printing.

  • Formlabs claims that this solution will facilitate faster iterations and production of textured or patterned 3D-printed parts without requiring additional processing steps.
