Meta and LG formally announce partnership to develop XR headset

Partnerships

  • Meta and LG Electronics have formally announced a partnership focusing on developing an XR headset, which is likely a successor to the Meta Quest Pro.

  • LG Electronics plans to bolster its XR operations by integrating its content and services from its television operations with Meta's platform. Recent rumors and reports suggest that both companies are working on a Meta Quest Pro 2, predicted to be released in the first half of 2025 and may cost ~USD 2,000.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The formal announcement follows multiple rumors about the partnership between the two companies. LG’s activities in the XR space have so far been limited to the manufacturing of displays for use in headsets, although the partnership will involve LG in developing software for Meta’s new headset.
