Kynda launches zero-waste mycelium-based food solution in Germany

Product updates
Partnerships

  • Kynda, a German biotech company specializing in mycelium biomass fermentation, has debuted a sustainable, mycelium-based food product known as "Kynda Meat" at the Internorga trade fair in Hamburg.

  • Kynda Meat, developed in collaboration with German plant-based meat company The Raging Pig Co, is exempt from EU novel foods regulations. It claims to offer a 37% protein content in dry matter and contains all nine essential amino acids, vitamins, and fiber while low in fat.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Novel food approval in the EU ranges between 18 and 36 months, comparatively longer than its US counterpart Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS). Kynda Meat being exempt from the regulatory process poses a significant advantage for the company and producers intent on using the product, as it can lead to lower costs and expedite commercialization.
