Skytree, a Netherlands-based developer of decentralized direct air capture (DAC) systems for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), has launched its second decentralized DAC unit, " Skytree Stratus ."
Skytree Stratus can generate up to 1,250 kg of CO2 per day from the atmosphere by supporting indoor farmers and greenhouse growers to enhance crop yield and productivity. The fully modular Stratus allows for multiple units to be combined into a “Skytree Stratus Hub” to meet larger volume requirements.
Skytree Stratus will be available in hybrid and all-electric configurations. Skytree Stratus Hybrid utilizes on-site thermal heat and provides savings over the all-electric version.
Analyst QuickTake: Skytree Stratus follows the launch of Skytree Cumulus, the company’s small-scale and first decentralized DAC unit launched in September 2023 . Cumulus units have been generating CO2 at CEA facilities globally, including Wageningen University and Research Center in the Netherlands. The modular unit is capable of delivering up to 10 kg of CO2 per day and can be scaled to suit the size of the indoor farm.
