Bene Meat Technologies to launch cell-cultured meat in Eastern Europe

  • Bene Meat Technologies, a Czech cell-cultured meat startup expects to launch its product in Eastern Europe by the end of 2021. The startup is the first and only company developing cell-cultured meat in the Central European market. Bene Meat Technologies has already succeeded in cultivating animal cells in fetal bovine serum-free (FBS-free) medium and have developed several cell lines to grow muscle tissue.

  • Bene Meat Technologies is also working on developing affordable FBS-free medium alternatives to reduce the production costs for cell-cultured protein producers, ultimately making the end product cheaper for consumers.

  • The startup is currently building micro-bioreactors for the production of cultivated meat in collaboration with the Prague Institute of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering. Bene Meat Technologies claims that its first bioreactor prototypes will be ready for operation by May/ June 2021. The company intends to build large-scale bioreactors and 3D structures forming as its next step, in the future.
