OpenAI partners with Le Monde and Prisa Media to access news content

Partnerships

  • OpenAI has formed strategic partnerships with French newspaper Le Monde and Spanish media company Prisa Media to access news content through ChatGPT.

  • ChatGPT users can summarize with attribution and obtain additional links to the original articles, allowing them to access additional information or related articles from their news sites.

  • Additionally, the company claims that the partnership will enable it to train its models with verified data.

  • Analyst QuickTake : Last December, The New York Times filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft, alleging copyright infringement. The lawsuit claimed that OpenAI and Microsoft used millions of works owned by The Times without proper licensing or compensation to train their GPT models. However, the company has already forged partnerships with the likes of Axel Springer and The Associated Press to obtain news stories to train its models.
