Target, a leading discount retailer, has announced plans to revamp its self-checkout policy to speed up the checkout process and reduce customer wait times. The company plans to restrict self-checkout to customers purchasing 10 or fewer items.
Target initially piloted its “Express Self-Checkout” lanes at nearly 200 store locations, where customers with more than 10 items were directed toward a traditional checkout lane. Following the positive results of the pilot, the company plans to roll out the process in most of the 2,000 Target stores nationwide.
