General Fusion, a Canadian fusion energy startup, and TRIUMF, Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics and accelerator-based science, were awarded a grant of USD 800,000 from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
The company intends to use the funds to design and deliver an ultra-fast neutron spectrometer system to measure plasma temperatures at fusion conditions of over 100 million degrees Celsius (10 keV).
Analyst QuickTake: In October 2023 , Triumf collaborated with General Fusion to develop a diagnostic system capable of precisely measuring neutron energies at a very high rate. The spectrometer be incorporated into General Fusion’s Lawson Machine 26 (LM26).
