Givaudan, Bühler, and MISTA have jointly unveiled a specialized extrusion hub at the MISTA Innovation Center in San Francisco, providing companies with the technology required to conduct product development trials for extruded products.
This hub is equipped with a 30mm twin-screw Bühler extruder, supporting both high moisture extrusion (plant-based meat production) and low moisture extrusion (snacks and cereals). Furthermore, it has an output of up to 50 kilograms per hour, enabling companies to translate trial results into full-scale production equipment.
Analyst QuickTake: Givaudan and Bühler have individually and collaboratively contributed to the novel foods space significantly. In October 2023 , the two companies along with Cargill, ITAL, and the FoodTech Hub Latam launched a tropical food innovation hub in Brazil to develop sustainable food and beverages.
