NVIDIA to offer 'Drive Thor' platform to Chery to develop intelligent driving functions

Partnerships

  • Tech company NVIDIA has partnered with Chery Automobile, a Chinese car manufacturer, to develop a new intelligent driving platform based on NVIDIA's “DRIVE Thor” centralized car computing technology, starting with Chery's high-end vehicle models.

  • The DRIVE Thor chip will be incorporated into future Chery models to bring advanced AI capabilities to the driving experience.

  • The collaboration marks an upgrade from NVIDIA’s existing “DRIVE Orin” platform, currently utilized in Chery's latest model, the “EXEED STERRA ET,” which offers features such as automated driving assistance and intelligent parking.

  • Analyst QuickTake: NVIDIA's Drive Thor chip introduced in September 2022 is anticipated to power a range of next-generation vehicles, including robotaxis, autonomous delivery vehicles (ADVs), and long-haul trucks. ADV developer Nuro and autonomous truck manufacturer Waabi have already integrated Drive Thor into their driving systems. Other Chinese automakers like BYD, Li Motors, and Xpeng also plan to incorporate Drive Thor into their upcoming vehicle models, highlighting the chip's broad adoption and pivotal role in advancing autonomous transportation technologies.
