MightyFly receives FAA approval for test flight corridor in California

Regulation/policy

  • MightyFly, a drone-based delivery solutions provider, has received the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) approval for a flight corridor between New Jerusalem and Byron Airports in California (a 20 m distance).

  • The approved corridor will enable MightyFly to perform various flight tests on their its “2024 Cento” drone, which can operate autonomously beyond the operator's visual line-of-sight (BVLOS), using a chase plane for monitoring.

  • The company emphasizes the drone's potential for B2B expedited logistics, targeting sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and defense, with plans to expand through a Series A investment round to scale manufacturing.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Today’s approval marks a significant step forward for MightyFly, as it looks to test and commercialize its drone technology. The company unveiled its third-gen 2024 Cento drone in January 2024, which can carry a maximum payload of around 100 lbs while cruising at a speed of 150 mph at a range of around 600 m.
