Save da Sea, a Canadian plant-based seafood startup, has raised CAD 650,000 (~USD 474,932) in seed funding, backed by Thrive Lab, a new initiative from the Business Development Bank of Canada, Spring, What If Ventures, and York University's YSpace.
The funds will be used to accelerate its market penetration in the US and expand its team.
Save da Sea, founded in 2019, offers products that mimic seafood, including a smoked salmon alternative made from carrots and a tuna salad from jackfruit. It has grown its presence to 500 retail stores throughout Canada and recently entered the US market.
