Beep, an autonomous shuttle operator, has partnered with Sustainability Partners, an infrastructure-as-a-service company, and the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) to run an 18-month pilot for autonomous shuttles at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.
The pilot will utilize four autonomous, electric shuttles that can transport up to 11 passengers, which will supplement the airport’s existing shuttle service, offering frequent, efficient transportation between airport gates.
Sustainability Partners facilitates this program by providing electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
Analyst QuickTake: Today’s partnership marks the first deployment of Beep’s autonomous shuttles in Hawaii. However, Beep has previously partnered with other state and city transportation authorities, including the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDT), Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA; California), and Jacksonville Transportation Authority (Florida) for various deployment pilots in respective geographies.
