OpenAI launches tool to detect images generated from DALL-E

Product updates

  • OpenAI has introduced a tool to detect digital images generated from its image generator, DALL-E.

  • The DALL-E image generator will also include watermarking features in response to the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) standards.

  • The company claims the tool detected approximately 98% of DALL-E 3 images. However, it is less accurate with modified DALL-E 3 images and images generated by other AI models.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Detecting AI-generated images has become a challenge amidst deepfakes. Last month, Meta and Google claimed they plan to label AI-generated media using the C2PA standard.
