Sam's Club launches AI-powered exit terminals for self-checkout

Product updates

  • Sam's Club, a Walmart subsidiary, has introduced new AI- and computer vision-powered technology to be deployed at store exits to eliminate the process of manually reviewing customers’ receipts at the store exit.

  • The technology, deployed near the store exits, will use computer vision and AI to capture items in the shopping carts and validate payment after a customer has completed their payment via a self-checkout terminal or a cashier.

  • The technology, currently piloted across 10 Sam’s Club locations, will complement the store’s “Scan & Go” mobile checkout solutions.
