Ultraleap launches new hand-tracking software Hyperion, replacing Gemini

Product updates

  • Haptics manufacturer Ultraleap announced the next generation of its hand-tracking software, "UltraLeap Hyperion," which replaces its previous Gemini software. The software will be made available for users of its Leap Motion 2 controller alongside a license for commercial use.

  • Key software features include micro gesture interactions, robust tracking when users hold objects, the ability to track objects using the Leap Motion Controller 2 camera, performance switching modes, and expanded tracking capabilities that allow it to perform other computer vision tasks.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The software update follows the company’s announcement of the Leap Motion Controller 2 in May 2023 , priced at USD 139. The new controller improves camera resolution, widens the field-of-view (FOV), and reduces power consumption by 25% compared to its predecessor. Further, the company noted that it had sold over 1 million Leap Motion trackers to date, with 350,000 developers building apps and experiences using the company's hand-tracking technology.
