Biosorbe, a Swedish company that develops a bio-based oil spill-absorbing product, has bought the pilot facility of bankrupt textile recycling company Renewcell in Kristinehamn. Biosorbe intends to use the location for its own production purposes. Renewcell's remaining assets, including its large-scale factory in Sundsvall and technology patents, are still on the market.
The factory, which spans over 2,000 sq m, will be used by Biosorbe to manufacture its oil spill-absorbing product, which appears like balls of fluff. Biosorbe’s CEO, Kajsa Fougner, has also stated that the company's headquarters will be moved from Karlstad to Kristinehamn as a part of its expansion strategy. The company expects to begin its operations in the facility later in May 2024.
