Simulation developer Loft Dynamics announced a partnership with Dufour Aerospace to create the world's first VR flight simulator specifically for eVTOL aircraft.
The VR simulator scheduled for release in 2025, will target the hybrid-electric eight-seat Aero3 eVTOL aircraft. It aims to assist pilots with tilt-wing operations and ground effects at low speeds. This collaboration emerges amidst a worldwide pilot shortage accommodating mass retirements and entry of newer sectors such as eVTOL.
Analyst QuickTake: The partnership marks Loft Dynamics' entry into the eVTOL space. In July 2023 , the company first partnered with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to provide pilot training for the Airbus H125 and Robinson R22 airplanes. It also augmented its Airbus H125 simulator with a Garmin avionics flight display in February 2024 .
