Web3 social metaverse platform Today announced Dreamia, an AI-backed character engine designed to influence storytelling in real-time interactions.
Dreamia, claimed to be the company’s largest product launch to date, facilitates realistic non-player characters (NPCs) that provide interactive responses shaped by the player's actions. Key features include deep personalities for NPCs, contextual awareness, sustained memory, emotional intelligence, and procedural animation.
Today’s team optimized open-source LLMs for Dreamia using a hybrid local and cloud-based model, improving performance and reducing server costs while maintaining high-quality text and voice generation. Later this year, users can create their own characters via a visual front-end in-game and online, complementing Today’s procedural tool that generates buildings and interiors dynamically using the proprietary LLM.
Analyst QuickTake: While other metaverse platforms such as VLGE and Hiber offer GenAI-backed tools for creating virtual assets, Today aims to deepen player-NPC interactions with Dreamia. Additionally, the news builds upon the company’s USD 5 million seed funding round in April 2024 , which aimed to bolster GenAI NPC creation capabilities and other no-code creation tools.
