Hiber is the Swedish developer of HiberWorld, a no-code web platform that allows users to create user-generated games. Hiber provides a wide selection of assets that users can place in a 3D space within the browser window, allowing these creations to be replayed by others on the game portal. The platform supports creation on Android devices through an app and on iOS devices using the Safari browser. Users can publish their creations to the HiberWorld platform and embed them directly onto company websites. Additionally, the company’s browser-based approach eliminates the need for downloads and makes it accessible to emerging markets and areas with low bandwidth.

In May 2023, Hiber announced the launch of Hiber3D, a tech stack designed for metaverse content creation. Hiber3D offers user-friendly tools, including a no-code option for consumers and the Hiber3D Development Kit (HDK) for web developers. It provides access to a diverse range of 3D assets and services such as multiplayer functionality and character controls. The platform allows the embedding of 3D experiences on websites, enabling users to engage with brands without leaving the site.

Creators can also connect their creations to the HiberWorld platform, gaining access to a community of creators and users. Other features offered in Hiber3D include multiplayer functionality, character controls, chat, customizable avatars from Ready Player Me, payment rails, and commerce connections.

As of January 2024, HiberWorld accommodated over five million virtual experiences.

Key customers and partnerships

Key customers include music NFT platform anotherblock, which used the platform to activate its community surrounding two NFT drops: 1) IAMRUNBOX to create a metaverse which tied into their ad campaign and 2) Linc Music to build out a showroom for artists to debut songs from their new albums.

The company had two partnerships with Google to add GenAI features to its platform: 1) SkyScape AI, designed to convert static images into immersive 3D skyboxes, powered by Gemini (April 2024); 2) GenAI world creation features via text prompts, utilizing Google’s PaLM large language model (September 2023).

Previously, in October 2022, the company partnered with Wolf3D’s Ready Player Me platform to integrate its avatars across multiple metaverse platforms such as Spatial, MeetinVR, VR Chat, vSpatial, and Wonda Chat.

Funding and financials

In June 2021, the company raised USD 15 million in a funding round led by EQT Ventures. Proceeds were used to bolster user-generated-content (UGC) creation tools. EQT Ventures partner Lars Jörnow joined Hiber’s board of directors as well.
