ABB collaborates with Pulmuone to develop robotic solutions for lab-grown food production

Partnerships

  • ABB Robotics has partnered with South Korean food producer Pulmuone to automate the research and production of lab-grown foods, particularly seafood derived from cell cultivation.

  • Using ABB's automation solutions, AI-based tools, and potentially collaborative robots, the partnership aims to improve the efficiency and precision of production while reducing the risk of cross-contamination. The collaboration is expected to lead to technological advancements and drive the development of a sustainable mass-production system for lab-grown seafood.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Pulmuone is a leading producer of plant-based alternatives and the parent company of US-based tofu brands Nasoya and Wildwood. Integrating AI-based automation and robotics will allow the company to scale production and potentially assist with its partnerships with cell-cultured meat producers BlueNalu and Simple Planet .
