VR headset manufacturer Somnium Space and TG0, maker of the etee controller, announced a partnership to launch a hardware bundle priced at EUR 1,900 (~USD 2,060).

Consumers who reserve the headset will receive a 20% discount on etee’s controllers, generally priced at USD 492. The controllers, featuring full finger-tracking and an open-hand design, are used for training, art, therapy, and social XR applications. Though the launch details of the Somnium VR1 headset are still uncertain, the initial units are already in use for R&D purposes. 

Analyst QuickTake: In May 2023 , the company provided an update to its VR1 headset, which would feature a display resolution of 2,880 x 2,880 pixels per eye, 210 nits of brightness, and a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, targeting gamers and creative professionals. The company differentiates itself by building its headset on an open and modular platform, aiming to change the restrictive policies established by larger corporations for the VR market.
