Energy Vault, a Swiss NYSE-listed, gravity-based, long-duration energy storage company, and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), an architecture and engineering firm, have formed a global gravity energy storage partnership.
As such, SOM will be the exclusive architect and structural engineer for the next generation of fixed frames and deployable structures for Energy Vault’s gravity energy storage systems (GESS), which will incorporate GESS technology.
Analyst QuickTake: In April 2024 , Energy Vault also partnered with NV Energy, Nevada's largest public utility, to begin commercial operations of the 220 MW Reid Gardner Battery Energy Storage System in Moapa, Nevada. The company also signed a licensing and royalty agreement with Gravity Energy Storage Solutions (GESSOL) in January 2024 so that the latter can deploy Energy Vault's gravity energy storage systems and VaultOS energy management system in the Southern African Development region.
