Energy Vault, a Swiss NYSE-listed, gravity-based, long-duration energy storage company, reported the successful testing and commissioning of the Rudong EVx gravity energy storage system (GESS) by China Tianying.
The Rudong 25 MW/100 MWh EVx system is the world’s first commercial, grid-scale gravity energy storage system. This testing follows the system’s mechanical completion in September 2023 and state grid interconnection in December 2023.
Energy Vault’s EVx platform is a scalable and modular architecture that can scale to multi-GW-hour storage capacity. In addition to the deployment in China, the company is also carrying out deployments in Egypt, Greece, and the South African Development Community.
