FibreTrace collaborates with Target Corp. and Cargill for real-time cotton verification

Partnerships

  • FibreTrace is partnering with Target Corp. and Cargill to develop real-time verification for US and Brazilian cotton. The collaboration involves using luminescent pigments for easy tracking and identification across the supply chain.

  • This tracking system will be established by incorporating luminescent pigments into raw cotton during the initial processing stage, creating a distinguishable marking. This specific pigment marking can then be tracked throughout the global supply chain, allowing Target Corp. to verify the cotton's origin in real time, aligning with its sustainability goals. The first year after marking US cotton in November 2023, it aims to mark 50,000 metric tons of US and Brazilian raw cotton.

  • Based in Singapore, FibreTrace offers advanced traceability technology for the textile industry. The company embeds non-toxic luminescent pigments into fibers at the raw material stage, enabling real-time tracking and verification through blockchain technology. The company’s key solutions, FibreTrace MAPPED and FibreTrace VERIFIED, integrate digital and physical traceability to ensure authenticity and sustainability from farm to store.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Over the years, origin tracing has expanded beyond traditional industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, and automotive. Nowadays, with companies focused on building sustainable and transparent supply networks, origin tracing has become an important feature of supply chain operations. In April 2024, Boll & Branch launched Origin Track to trace bedding manufacturing processes.
