Beyond Leather Materials, a Danish startup that develops bio-based textiles, has partnered with leather goods manufacturer Veshin Factory to create products using Beyond Leather's bio-based leather alternative Leap.
The partnership will see the creation of bio-based leather goods for sectors spanning fashion, home, and furniture. Leap is created using leftover apple pulp destined for landfills, and the company claims that 89% of the material is bio-based.
Analyst QuickTake: The development marks another important milestone in establishing Leap’s market presence. The tie-up with Veshin allows the company to place goods in the hands of consumers while opening the door to additional companies, which may be on the market for a proven bio-based leather to add to its materials portfolio. Beyond Leather Materials announced full-scale production of Leap in May 2024 .
