SkyNRG, a Netherlands-based company specializing in the production and supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), has reported the launch of Project Runway, with Microsoft joining as a founding member.
The initiative unites airlines and corporations to provide easy access to SAF by supporting airlines in navigating the complexities of SAF procurement. As such, Project Runway allows airlines access to SAF and allows them to share the SAF price premium with corporates aiming to reduce their own Scope 3 aviation emissions.
SkyNRG will provide the SAF, while Microsoft will act as the initial Scope 3 SAF claims buyer.
Analyst QuickTake: As of March 2024, SkyNRG had supplied SAF to more than 40 airlines, including KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, SAS, Lufthansa, Alaska Airlines, and LOT Polish Airlines. The company is also expanding its production facilities, with two plants under construction in the Netherlands and one in the US.
