Google has launched its GenAI-powered Gemini app in India. The standalone Gemini app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for Android devices, and it supports nine Indian languages: Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
The app allows users to interact with the Gemini AI chatbot through text, voice, or by uploading images.
Google has also introduced Gemini Advanced, a premium offering that provides a Gemini-powered digital assistant in Gmail, Docs, and other Google services, along with 2 TB of cloud storage. It supports the same nine Indian languages as the Gemini app. Gemini Advanced is currently available for a two-month free trial and requires a Google One AI premium plan subscription.
Analyst QuickTake: Google rebranded its chatbot, previously known as Bard, to Gemini this February and rolled out an upgraded version named Gemini Advanced. The Gemini app offers personalized suggestions and responses to various queries, such as trip planning, birthday theme ideas for children, assistance with coding, creative collaboration, personal tutoring tailored to the user's learning style, and can act as a creative partner for tasks like content strategy planning or business plan creation.
