Divert proposes new anaerobic digestion facility in Adams County, Pennsylvania

Geographic expansion

  • Divert, a Massachusetts-based technology company focused on reducing food waste, has announced plans to develop a new anaerobic digestion facility in Adams County, Pennsylvania. The facility's proposed budget is USD 100 million, and it is set to be located near the McSherrystown section of Conewago Township.

  • The proposed facility will be constructed on a 22-acre plot and can transform food waste into natural gas. The facility is expected to produce 1000 MMBtu of natural gas daily for the Columbia Gas Pipeline and the creation of 50–60 new jobs

  • Analyst QuickTake: The company broke ground on a food recovery facility in Washington and California in September 2023 and April 2023 , respectively. Divert also inked a USD 1 billion infrastructure development agreement with Enbridge in March 2023 to expand its facilities to all major US regions over eight years.
