Swiss WorldCargo partners with Climeworks for carbon removal offering

Partnerships

  • Climeworks, a Swiss direct air capture (DAC) technology company, has partnered with Swiss WorldCargo, the cargo division of Swiss International Air Lines, to offer its customers a carbon removal service.

  • The partnership enables Swiss WorldCargo to launch a new premium, an "Aviation Tech Pioneer" option within its Green Choice service. This option will combine 20% emissions reduction through Climeworks' DAC technology with 80% through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This offering aims to help shippers reduce their Scope 3 emissions and support scaling up net-zero technologies.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Earlier this month , the company unveiled its new Generation 3 DAC technology, which offers breakthrough improvements in efficiency and performance for megaton-scale CO2 removal. In addition, the collaboration with Swiss WorldCargo builds on a carbon removal agreement signed by Climeworks, Swiss, and the Lufthansa Group to purchase carbon credits in March 2024
