LanzaJet, a LanzaTech spinoff that produces sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using low-carbon ethanol, has received an investment from MUFG, Japan's leading financial group, as part of its USD 100 million growth equity financing round.
The company will use the funds to scale its ethanol-to-SAF technology and achieve its goal of producing 1 billion gallons of SAF by 2030.
Other investors in the round included Groupe ADP, Microsoft, Southwest Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Breakthrough Energy, British Airways, LanzaTech, Mitsui & Co., Shell, and Suncor Energy.
Analyst QuickTake: This investment follows a USD 20 million investment in May 2024 from Groupe ADP, a French airport operator, an undisclosed investment from Microsoft's Climate Innovation Fund in April 2024 , and a USD 30 million investment from Southwest Airlines in February 2024 .
