MOA Foodtech secures EUR 3 million to upscale AI-driven production

Funding

  • MOA Foodtech, a Spanish B2B platform for substitute proteins and sustainable ingredients, has raised EUR 3 million (~USD 3.2 million) in a Series A funding round. The round was led by ICOS Capital, a Dutch venture capital firm, and included participation from laveMayor, Viscofan, SODENA, and Banco Sabadell.

  • MOA Foodtech expects to use the funding to improve its strategies, expand operations, upscale production, and boost its AI platform, Albatros. This would assist MOA's plans for a market launch targeting international customers.

  • MOA's fermented proteins, created from agrifood byproducts such as cereals, bagasse, and legumes, are claimed to contain all essential amino acids, offer improved digestibility with a PDCAAS of 0.9, and are allergen-free. MOA Foodtech also gained recognition as a finalist at Fi Europe's Most Innovative AI Solution Supporting the Food & Beverage Industry in November 2023.
