MOA Foodtech, a Spanish B2B platform for substitute proteins and sustainable ingredients, has raised EUR 3 million (~USD 3.2 million) in a Series A funding round. The round was led by ICOS Capital, a Dutch venture capital firm, and included participation from laveMayor, Viscofan, SODENA, and Banco Sabadell.
MOA Foodtech expects to use the funding to improve its strategies, expand operations, upscale production, and boost its AI platform, Albatros. This would assist MOA's plans for a market launch targeting international customers.
MOA's fermented proteins, created from agrifood byproducts such as cereals, bagasse, and legumes, are claimed to contain all essential amino acids, offer improved digestibility with a PDCAAS of 0.9, and are allergen-free. MOA Foodtech also gained recognition as a finalist at Fi Europe's Most Innovative AI Solution Supporting the Food & Beverage Industry in November 2023.
