Above Food, a Canadian plant-based protein company, announced its acquisition of Brotalia, S.L., a Spanish company specializing in innovative food technologies, for an undisclosed sum.
Brotalia, which operates under the commercial name Foody's, is a developer, producer, and marketer of sustainable food products. The Foody's brand offers a range of plant-based products, including burgers, meatballs, nuggets, fish-style milanesa, foie gras, and also 3D-printed bacon under a partnership with Cocuus. It is also renowned for its dry fermentation technology research and study.
Through this acquisition, Above Foods aims to enhance the production of its differentiated products by leveraging Foody's' technology. Furthermore, it will aid the company in innovating new food tech solutions contributing toward the sustainability of the global food ecosystem.
